Coronary heart disease kills over 900,000 people in the United States each year. In fact, in America, coronary heart disease kills more people than the sum of the next 7 non-violent causes of death. That speaks volumes to how important it is to control and fight against heart disease. There are some ways you can help to either prevent or reverse the effects of coronary heart disease.

The first of those ways is, of course, through diet and exercise. For those who want to avoid traveling down the road of heart disease, it is important to make sure that you eat a healthy diet. That begins by avoiding saturated fats that are common in fried foods and some red meat. Additionally, you should eat more fruits and vegetables which can really add to your heart health.

The second thing that must become part of your lifestyle if you wish to fight coronary heart disease is exercise. If you just do a little more every day: take a walk, use the stairs instead of elevator, or park farther away from the store, then you can make a difference. You don’t have to be a marathon runner, but you do need to exercise your body and your heart.

In addition to exercise and diet, heart disease can also be fought medically when it gets bad. Surgery may be performed; it may be as simple as angioplasty or as serious as bypass. Either way, it should be seen as a last resort when both diet and exercise fail to help you avoid the serious effects of coronary heart disease.

As you can imagine, it is very important to avoid heart disease since it is one of the deadliest diseases in the United States and around the world. To that end, you should consider improving your diet and taking part in exercise daily. With a little work, you can avoid coronary heart disease without going through surgery.
